On call still sucks, Oppo. Anyone got any personal good news for today?

Edit: Photo of something I ordered when drunk, for your time.

My septic tank got pumped out today and it turns out that the previous inspector didn’t lie about it after all. Saves me a bit of cash.

That’s my good news for the day. How about you?

Uhhhhh I have one more day of work in this stretch? That’s kind of good!

The dog didn’t eat any of my house today, which is also a plus.

Also, can agree, on-call is the worst.

I think I lost my sense of smell... Which is actually quite strange... Because now I approach questionable cartons of milk with a different kind of respect.

Good news is... Otherwise I've felt very little if no symptoms...

Installed the new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator without issue, 93GB worth, and am stunned by the visuals and quality of aircraft performance, at least initially.  I just have to remember the old adage that time that you enjoyed wasting was not time wasted. I can kiss any productivity goodbye for the next few days and I don’t really mind.

The day is young, nothing to report.

Yesterday was average. I had a pretty solid walk with a dude who lives near me though. We discussed the idea of touring the east coast of Australia with a Toyota Coaster at length

No good news today.

Im going out of country on a work trip Saturday. Last night the country we are going to changed their admission rules - need a negative COVID test within 5 days of entering the country, not 10 like we were told before. We all got tested last week, so those are now invalid, so I have to do it all again. It’s turning into a real clustrt

So now I’m at an urgent care center that also offers testing , been waiting for 3 hours. Apparently a legit emergency, as in should have gone to the ER, came in. They got that cleared up and then their computer system crashed. Poor folks.

But I literally j ust got admitted to get my test done, so that is good news!

Isn’t a loss of sense of smell a symptom of COVID...? Hope you’re feeling alright otherwise!!!

It is a symptom... but you don’t really see it coming... just one day you can’t smell, and you spend half a day sniffing things to make sure it’s real and you’re not just exaggerating .. .

I’ve notice I can still sort of smell coffee if I try very hard... but the sensation is generally very strange because... you don’t think about it... but you usually smell everything you eat... and now I smell nothing and suddenly feel whatever it is I’m eating in my mouth... it’s a strange disconnection.

I have always treated the pandemic with some respect. I can’t say I was the most careful... but I didn’t really go out except to go cycling and to go to work... I used a facemask outside of my house like it was glued to my face. So, I still don’t know how I got it... and now my work colleagues have been tested... they all came back negative.

Now that I’m positive I haven’t gone out at all. It’s been a week since I tested for it... I can’t really wait for all of it to die off.

It’s truly bizarre.

It possibly could have been on any surface you interacted with, really, although there is a diminished likelihood of that overall. I know that I tend to rub my eyes cause of allergies and if I didn’t work from home, I’d probably have gone to the hospital by now.

My settlement check for a class-action lawsuit arrived, so, uh, money for no effort once in a while is good?

Also, I didn’t get to eat dinner until like 8 o’clock. You know how sometimes when you’re really hungry, the first thing you get to eat ends up being the most delicious thing you have ever eaten? Well, in my case, it was a microwaved potato. It was like the ambrosia of the gods.

Ran over a screw in the car this morning. Could hear it click, click, click as I drove up the street.

Went to the local service station. Guy gets out his “stuff I use when I pull sh*t out of tires” bag. Pliers come out, screw is pulled out... and it’s only a half-inch long! In the thick part of the tread! He says, “You got lucky.” and sends me on my way.

it’s supposed to be once every 5 years or so ish. Depending on use.

Our situation is complex - we had ours pumped prior to purchase, which was a month ago. new plumbers came in and said incorrectly that our tank was full. New NEW plumbers came in to pump and said the tank was fine, and they found a clog higher up in a transfer pipe leading to the tank.

they pumped anyway and are now fixing to remove the clog. Fun day, yesterday.

Yearly inspections are a thing, so if you haven’t had one, I think that’s the next step. Honestly, I never liked septic tanks and we’re slated to get a sewer in this part of town in 2 years (so in 4) so I just gotta hold out until we get there. I’m so paranoid something would happen to it and then it did!

No way sewers will ever make it out to us. I’m just happy we’ll have faster internet in a year or two.

Definitely need to get on the yearly inspection cycle to keep it healthy.
